The company HP has entered the tablet market in India through the release of HP OmniPad 12. This new product aims at bringing together the concept of a portable tablet and that of a laptop. The target audience for this product includes students, professionals, and first-time buyers of computing devices.

The distinguishing feature of the HP OmniPad 12 is its detachable keyboard. HP says users can easily switch between tablet mode for entertainment and a more laptop-like setup for typing, studying, or office work. It is the kind of setup clearly aimed at people who want one device for multiple everyday tasks without carrying a bulky laptop around.
The tablet features a 12-inch 2K display with a 90Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and animations feel smoother than standard panels. HP has also added up to 400 nits brightness, while the 16:10 aspect ratio gives users slightly more vertical space for reading, browsing, and multitasking.
Under the hood, the OmniPad 12 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SM6475Q processor paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB storage. Storage can also be expanded using a microSD card, something many users still appreciate on tablets. The device runs on Android, although HP has not confirmed the exact version yet.
For entertainment and video calls, HP has included quad speakers with DTS:X Ultra support, dual microphones, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. The detachable keyboard connects through POGO pins and also includes an HP Imagepad for navigation, giving the experience a more familiar laptop-style feel.
HP is also promising up to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge, which, if it holds up in real-world usage, could easily make the OmniPad 12 an all-day device for classes, meetings, streaming, and travel.
The HP OmniPad 12 has been priced at Rs. 48,999 in India and will go on sale starting June through HP’s online store, Amazon, Reliance, and HP World stores. It will be available in a single Denim Blue colour option.
