The India AI Impact Summit is going in with full force right now, and this is the 4th day of the prestigious event, which is being graced by the biggest leaders in the AI and tech industries. At the event OpenAI's chief, Sam Altman, laid down his insights and iterated that India is currently in the lead when it comes to AI adoption and is on the trajectory to become one of the largest markets for upcoming technology.
Currently in New Delhi for the AI Impact Summit 2026, the OpenAI chief expressed that AI will for sure impact the job market, but the tech titan is confident that humans will eventually adapt to this change.
"It (AI) will definitely impact the job market, but we always find new things to do, and I have no doubt we will find lots of better ones this time," Altman said while speaking to ANI. Altman also expressed that as more technological innovations take place and shifts happen, it also leads to the discovery of new work.
The growth of AI has been a central point of debate as fears of job losses loom large, with many tech giants still continuing with their layoff cycles, and the impact is felt most by jobs that are repetitive, data-driven and routine. Workers are now worried about blue-collar and white-collar jobs being taken away by AI, from desk coding to factories.
India Leads The AI Revolution
OpenAI's chief also said that India is not just another participating member in this revolution but is at the helm leading it. He has expressed that the work that India is doing is "amazing" and is setting a precedent for global adoption as well. Sam Altman thinks India is a primary force of future innovation and suggests that India will have a "huge amount of influence" on how technologies take shape on a global platform.
“It is amazing to be here; obviously, the work happening in India and the adoption of AI are leading the world, and I can't wait to see what goes next,” Altman expressed.
PM Modi Lays Down Manav Vision
Earlier in the day as the AI Impact Summit began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the MANAV AI Vision, which he has put forth as guidelines that are morally and ethically correct. Not just that but a vision that asks for accountable government and national sovereignity. PM Modi said, "We have to open the skies for AI but also make sure we remain in control of it."
