JE Technology Desk: Apple showcased the highly-anticipated Vision Pro AR/VR headset at WWDC 2023 and will likely bring the upcoming iPhone 15 series later this year. And to allow for smooth integration of the MR device with the upcoming iPhone models, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities and a reliable name for Apple-related leaks, claims Apple will "aggressively upgrade hardware" in the future.

According to the tipster, the ecosystem of Apple products is among the key factors that will weigh the success of Vision Pro. To ensure the headset achieves that, Apple will upgrade the ultra-wideband (UWB) and Wi-Fi on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models for smooth integration.

iPhone 15 Leaks: Upgraded UWB chip

Kuo claims the fabrication process will move from 16nm to 7nm. This will ensure more efficient performance and cut down power consumption during use.

According to reports, the company first introduced U1 UWB in iPhone 11 lineup. It is the same chip used in AirTags, Watch Series 6 and other Apple devices. It aids several features, including Find My and AirDrop.

iPhone 16 Leaks: Wi-Fi 7

The 2024 Apple iPhones may have Wi-Fi 7, "which will be more conducive to Apple's integration of hardware products," that runs on the same network and enhance the ecosystem experience. The upgrade will bring a massive jump in download and upload speeds for faster transmission of data on the Internet.

The upcoming iPhone 15 series will likely launch in September this year. In the latest leaks about the upcoming lineup, reports claim the phones might not come in a red colour variant. Secondly, the vanilla and the Plus models may come with a Dynamic Island and 48MP primary camera on the back.

Speaking of Apple Vision Pro, the Mixed Reality headset will be available in the market next year. It will have a price tag of $3,499 (roughly 2.8 lakh). For some relief, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg adds that the tech maker is already working on affordable variants of the premium AR/VR headset.
