JE Technology Desk: Apple iPhone 15 series has been the talk of the town for the past several months because of the information churned out by the rumour mill. Continuing that saga, AppleInsider, citing ITHome, reported that all the upcoming smartphones in the iPhone lineup this year may debut with a 48MP primary camera on the back.
The report states that Apple may embrace a "full upgrade" to the larger sensor in its upcoming smartphone lineup. Following this change, Sony is experiencing pressures due to the increased demand. As a result, the Japanese tech giant has inflated orders for colour filter films.
The iPhone 14 series debuted with two different camera sensors on the non-Pro and Pro models. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus debuted with a 12MP camera on the back and the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max ships with a 48MP primary lens.
The main highlights of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models were Dynamic Island and 48MP shooter on the back. Believing the rumours, we can expect both features on the non-Pro variants this year. However, a reader should not mistake the same camera sensor digits for identical picture output. Further, these rumours are not from official sources and may differ when the actual product debuts.
Speaking of other leaks, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus may sport an A16 Bionic chip and the much-awaited USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. Dan Ives, a Wedbush Analyst, recently claimed that over 250 million iPhones have not been upgraded for over four years. Despite the price rise, the demand may stand undeterred because users might opt for the latest models this time.
Coming to official updates about Apple, the Cupertino-based tech giant recently concluded the WWDC 2023 event, where it introduced several hardware and software products, including 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio, iOS 17, watchOS 10 and the highly-anticipated MR headset - Vision Pro.
