WHILE we are months away from the launch of Apple's iPhone 15 series, hints and rumours are already leaking details about the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max that would debut next year could feature a 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display, MacRumors citing Ross Young, a display analyst, reported. For context, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has a screen size of 6.8 inches.
Young, the co-founder and CEO of DSCC, told the news outlet that these are round figures. He will reveal the complete numbers in a speech at the Display Week conference on May 23. Young further claims that the upgrade in screen dimensions will not seep into the Vanilla and the Plus model. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus may have the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays.

Largest iPhone ever
If this turns out true, the 16 series could be the largest Pro model iPhones. For comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a display measuring 6.1 and 6.7 inches. These dimensions will likely remain the same in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max that could launch later this year.
Other leaks
A display tweak could imply a design change and trimmed bezels to achieve these numbers. Moreover, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg claims that Apple might bring an 'Ultra' variant over the iPhone 16 Pro Max in 2024. Gurman also speculates the 'Pro Max' could be replaced with the new variant in the lineup.
Further, Apple may adopt the solid-state buttons finally next year on the Pro models. Solid-State buttons that were expected to roll out with the iPhone 15 Pro could debut in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Further, Apple, to reduce dependence on Qualcomm, could bring its own 5G modem chip with the iPhone 16 series. Lastly, the 16 series will likely come with a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
