JE Technology Desk: While the tech fraternity is gearing up for the release of the highly-anticipated iPhone 15 series in India, recent reports will come as bad news for the eagerly-waiting fans. According to a MacRumors report, the launch of the upcoming iPhones may be postponed by "a few weeks". As a result, this could end up shifting the launch to October.
Wamsi Mohan, a research analyst at Bank of America, claims the general time frame of launch could change this year, which hints that the release may shift to October. Mohan disclosed these details in a research note accessed by Barrons after monitoring the tech giant's supply chain. The launch could slip to Q4 of 2023, which could mean anywhere between October to December, according to the report.
The analyst did not give a detailed account of why the launch would experience a delay. A reader must note that no other sources have added weight to his expectations. And these are not from official sources and could change. According to 9To5Mac, Mohan accurately predicted the delay in the sale of the iPhone 12 in 2020.
Recalling the past, Apple launched the latest iPhone 14 series on September 7. Leaving the iPhone 14 Plus, all smartphones went on sale on September 16. The 'Plus' model launched on October 7 mainly because of production issues in China. If things go well, Apple will likely adhere to its four-model strategy this time also. Earlier rumours hinted that an 'Ultra' model could arrive with the 15 series. But those leaks have died down recently.
As for more talked updates, the tech giant could introduce significant upgrades to the iPhone lineup this year. Among the top-anticipated ones is the retirement of the Lighting Port in favour of the USB Type-C port. Moreover, all upcoming iPhone models may house a 48MP camera and Dynamic Island. Considering these and other material upgrades, the price of the phones could also scale to some extent. However, we will have to wait for September to catch more updates on this.
