WhatsApp, a popular instant messaging app, announced Meta AI chat assistant last year. The chatbot is now reportedly rolling out to some users in India. The icon to open Meta AI is available to select users in the main chat list. For the aware, Meta AI assistant can "interact like a person" and has access to real-time information via Bing in text-based chats and offers image generation capabilities.

According to Gadgets360 and users on X (formerly called Twitter), the icon is visible above the new chat icon at the bottom right. As per the report, the option vanished after appearing for a short while on the app. The 'Meta AI' account will have a '# with Llama #' label. The 'Ask Meta AI anything' text is followed with some prompts that users can enter to chat with the model.

As per the screengrab shared on X, users can see recommendations, find information and learn skills from the new chatbot. They can also generate images to share with people. "Meta may use your AI messages to improve AI quality. Personal messages are never sent to Meta, can't be read, and remain end-to-end encrypted," the description said. It is an optional service. For eligible users, here is a how-to guide to start chatting with Meta AI.

How To Start Chat With Meta AI?

Step 1: Open WhatsApp and tap the 'circular icon' (that may remind you of Windows' Cortana)

Step 2: Accept the terms to proceed

Step 3: You can opt for any of the options from the suggested prompts or type a query in the message bar to proceed

Step 4: Press the send button and wait for Meta AI to respond

According to WhatsApp's Help Center, the feature is supported only in English. "In a group chat, Meta AI can only read messages that mention @Meta AI, not any others. Meta AI can't be brought into a chat by Meta or WhatsApp," it said. Plus, it said that the messages may not be accurate or appropriate. Hence, you can also share feedback with Meta via the 'Good response' or 'Bad response' option.
