Nothing, a London-based tech maker, launched the new Nothing Phone (2) smartphone for buyers in India in July. The device shipped out of the box with the revamped Nothing OS 2.0 software. And this new operating system has started rolling out for users of the company's first handset - Nothing Phone (1).
Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, shared in a post on microblogging platform X (formerly called Twitter) that the new OS has started rolling out for Phone (1). This implies users will start receiving the update from today onwards. You can check for updates to see whether it has rolled out for your device.
"We've now began rolling out Nothing OS 2 for Phone (1). Thanks for everyone's patience! As our capabilities strengthen, we'll be able to pull in the time gap over time," Carl Pei said in a post on X.

Nothing Phone 1 users can head to settings to update their smartphone. After opening the app, scroll down and look for 'System'. Tap the 'System Update' option. If the update is available, download the package by tapping on 'Download and install'. Make sure to use a stable Wi-Fi connection to install the update.
The changes in the new OS include lock screen widgets, a monochrome icon pack and more new customisations. To use the monochrome experience, it is recommended that a user installs the 'Nothing Icon Pack' from the Google Play Store.
Coming to specifications of the Phone (1), the device has a 6.55-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen. For performance, the device has a Snapdragon 778G+ CPU and Adreno 642L GPU. It has a 4500mAh with 33W wired and 15W wireless charging support. As for the optics, the device has a 50MP + 50MP rear and a 16MP front camera setup. On Flipkart, the device has a starting price of Rs 28,999 at the time of filing.
