NOTHING is all set to launch the Nothing Phone (2) this summer of 2023, the company announced on May 3. While reports of the smartphone getting significant upgrades are already making rounds on the internet, adding to the excitement, Carl Pei, co-founder of Nothing, has confirmed that the upcoming smartphone will debut with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip under the hood.
The former co-founder of OnePlus shared the update via a Twitter thread. Highlighting the key differences, Pei claimed it is twice as fast as its predecessor in app opening, has better camera performance and more.

"There has been a lot of discussion ever since we announced that Phone (2) will have a Snapdragon 8 Series chipset. Well here's some news - it's going to be the premium-tier powerhouse Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. A clear upgrade from Phone (1)," Pei said in a tweet.

Additionally, the CEO added the processor packs an overall performance boost of 80 per cent compared to the Nothing Phone (1). Incorporating the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will introduce improvements to the battery life, network reception, camera quality and other things. " It's not just about speed – it's about the complete package," Pei adds.
The chip is based on a 4nm process by TSMC. Nothing will prioritise user experience over insane specs numbers in its smartphones, Pei stated on Twitter.
Next level camera - RAW HDR, 4K 60FPS
The processor features an "18-bit Image Signal Processor (ISP)," which can capture more than 4,000 times more camera data than the Phone (1). As a result, the Phone (2)incorporates features such as Raw HDR and 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.
Meanwhile, the Phone (2) is expected to launch in the sub-Rs 40,000-45,000 segment, according to reports. The Nothing Phone (2) is listed on Flipkart, hinting at a possible India launch soon.
