Nothing Phone 3 Vs Nothing Phone 2: After a two-year wait, Nothing has finally unveiled its third-generation flagship—the Nothing Phone 3. Spearheaded by Carl Pei, the London-based tech startup has carved a niche for itself with its standout transparent design and the unique Glyph Interface. Now, the Phone 3 looks to push things further—not just visually, but across the board.
From a new Glyph Matrix to a brighter display, triple cameras, and a beefier battery, the Phone 3 is aiming straight at the premium market. But how much of a leap is it over the Phone 2? Let’s dive into the differences.
Design: From Glyph Interface to Glyph Matrix
The Nothing Phone 2 introduced the Glyph Interface—a clever arrangement of LED lights on the back that lit up for calls, notifications, and charging. With the Phone 3, this idea has evolved into the Glyph Matrix. Now located in the top-right corner of the back panel, the Matrix offers interactive features and customisation, going beyond simple alerts.
There’s also been a redesign of the rear camera module to better align with this new layout, giving the phone a cleaner, more purposeful aesthetic.
Display and Performance: Sharper, Brighter, Faster
The Phone 3 brings a substantial upgrade in the display department. It features a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 4500 nits—nearly triple the Phone 2’s 1600 nits. That means far better visibility in bright outdoor light.
Under the hood, the performance bump is also noticeable. The Phone 2 ran on Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but the Phone 3 now uses the newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, offering improved efficiency and power for day-to-day use and gaming alike.
Camera: More Lenses, More Power
The jump in camera hardware is one of the biggest changes. The Phone 2 featured a dual 50MP setup (main + ultra-wide). The Phone 3? It takes things up a notch with a triple 50MP system—a main sensor, a 50MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide.
The front camera also sees a significant boost—from 32 MP on the Phone 2 to 50 MP on the Phone 3, perfect for sharper selfies and clearer video calls.
Battery and Charging: Bigger and Better
Battery life has also received a boost. The Phone 3 packs a 5500 mAh battery, a decent jump over the Phone 2’s 4700 mAh. You also get 65W fast charging, along with 15W wireless charging, 7.5W reverse wired, and 5W reverse wireless charging. In short, it charges faster and does more.
Price: Entering Premium Territory
The price tag reflects these upgrades. The Nothing Phone 3 starts at ₹79,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB model, with the top-tier 16GB + 512GB version going for ₹89,999. In contrast, the Phone 2 launched at ₹44,999 for the base 8GB + 128GB variant.
Bottom Line
To be honest the Nothing Phone 3 does come with upgrades over its previous version, especially when it comes to camera, battery and design. Although the internet are divided about the design language of the phone, with some who like it and others having a different opinion about it altogether. The handset has its set of drawbacks as well, and the most unexpected letdown was the pricing of the device. So above we have given a brief comparison of both which will tell you how big of an upgrade we might be looking at and if this would be the right choice for you.
