Krutrim AI: Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal unveiled Krutrim AI, an AI solution trained for the unique needs of the Indian audience. Live streamed across the social media handles of the company, the launch event highlighted how the Indian chatbot emphasises Indian knowledge, language and data, according to FoneArena.

Krutrim AI (a derivative of 'artificial' in Sanskrit), the model will be offered in two iterations: Krutrim and Krutrim Pro. The vanilla model can understand 22 languages and generate output across 10 Indian languages. On the other hand, the 'Pro' version (which will offer advanced problem-solving) will debut in the upcoming quarter.

According to Ola, the AI model has been trained on over 20x more Indic tokens compared to other mainstream models like GPT-4 and Llama. It can also outperform them when it comes to Indic languages. The model can accept voice inputs and respond via the same medium.

It can also switch between written and spoken mediums, according to Moneycontrol. Krutrim can also code, which makes it a potential tool for developers and enterprises. The model is trained to understand the Indian culture and languages using a custom tokeniser for indigenous scripts and languages.

Moreover, Krutrim SI Designs, the think tank behind Krutrim, aims to make silicon chips, develop a cloud infrastructure and create AI models suited for the Indian market. The prototypes will likely debut next year. According to the official website, the foundational models will cater to "enterprises, researchers, and developers to build Generative AI applications".
