Omegle, a popular video calling platform, which allowed users to talk to strangers across the globe with common interests is now shutting down after 14 years. This came after the founder Leif K-Brooks announced that the cost of managing the platform and handling of potential misuse is big, making it financially and emotionally difficult. Not only that, if you open the Omegle website, you will see RIP Omegle.
Omegle is one of the popular platforms used by teenagers and even content creators. Many of the YouTube creators have started their careers by posting witty conversations with strangers. Talking about the initial journey, Brook said, “It gained popularity almost immediately after its inception and flourished organically from there, reaching millions of daily users. I believe this was due to the fact that meeting new people is a basic human desire, and Omegle is one of the finest methods to achieve that urge. If you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door, as the adage goes.”
Raising concerns about anonymity, Internet policies and security, Brook said, “The only way to please these people is to stop offering the service. Sometimes they say so, explicitly and avowedly; other times, it can be inferred from their act of setting standards that are not humanly achievable. Either way, the net result is the same,”
“The battle for Omegle has been lost, but the war against the Internet rages on. Virtually every online communication service has been subject to the same kinds of attack as Omegle; and while some of them are much larger companies with much greater resources, they all have their breaking point somewhere,” he added.

From now on, users won't be able to access the real-time video calling platform. The house is off-limits to everyone because the corporation put up a RIP notice along with Brook's message.
