OnePlus has confirmed that a new entry in its popular R series is on the way, and it’s set to make its first appearance during the OnePlus 15 5G launch livestream. While many expected the OnePlus 15 5G and OnePlus 15R 5G to arrive side by side, the brand seems to be spacing things out—hinting that it may have something bigger planned for its R-series audience.
With leaks surfacing steadily over the past few weeks, there’s already plenty of early information about what the new model could bring. To get a clearer picture, here’s how the upcoming OnePlus 15R 5G stacks up against its predecessor, the OnePlus 13R 5G.

Design and Display
The OnePlus 15R 5G is expected to undergo a noticeable redesign. Instead of the circular camera module seen on the 13R, the new model may feature a square-shaped camera island, likely carrying a triple-camera setup. OnePlus is also said to be moving toward a flatter overall design, giving the phone a more contemporary flagship look.
On the display front, the upgrades are even more obvious. The OnePlus 15R may house a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a fluid 165 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness touching 5000 nits. In comparison, the 13R features a 6.78-inch AMOLED, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and up to 4500 nits of brightness. This makes the new model not just larger but also significantly brighter and smoother.
Performance and Battery
Under the hood, the OnePlus 15R 5G is rumoured to pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the same flagship chip powering the main OnePlus 15 lineup. The OnePlus 13R relied on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so users can expect a meaningful jump in performance, AI processing, and sustained efficiency.
Battery life might see the biggest upgrade of all. The 15R is tipped to include a massive 7000mAh battery, compared to the 13R’s already-large 6000mAh unit. The upcoming model may also step up charging speeds with 100W fast charging.
Camera Setup
The OnePlus 15R 5G may introduce a more powerful camera configuration: a 50MP main, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto. The 13R uses a 50MP main, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro, so the new telephoto lens alone marks a major upgrade for photography enthusiasts.

Price Expectations
The OnePlus 13R launched at ₹39,999 for its base 12GB/256GB variant. The OnePlus 15R is expected to start slightly higher, likely in the ₹42,999–₹44,990 range, aligning with its bigger display, stronger processor, upgraded cameras, and larger battery.
