OnePlus is slowly lifting the curtain on the upcoming OnePlus 15R ahead of its India launch on December 17, and the early details show a clear shift in how the R-series is being positioned. The company is highlighting upgrades that traditionally belonged to its mainline flagships, signalling that the 15R is no longer just the ‘affordable companion’ but a much bigger player in its own lineup.
Battery Upgrade Aimed At Longevity
OnePlus has confirmed a 7,400mAh battery for the 15R, which edges past the 7,300mAh unit inside the standard OnePlus 15. The brand claims the battery is engineered for long-term endurance and should retain at least 80 percent of its health even after four years of daily charging. It supports 80W SUPERVOOC and uses Silicon Nanostack technology, a method that adds silicon to the anode for improved energy density and slower degradation.
While the China-only Ace 6T packs an 8,300mAh battery with 100W charging, several reports already hinted that the global model would scale down slightly. OnePlus’ own confirmations now align with those expectations.
Display Features Expected To Match Flagships
The OnePlus 15R is expected to feature a 165 Hz 1.5K AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. The display can dim down to 2 nits by default, or as low as 1 nit via the Reduce White Point mode in settings. OnePlus says the panel also carries TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification, suggesting reduced strain during long hours of use. The flagship OnePlus 15 also supports a 165 Hz refresh rate, indicating how the 15R is closing the gap.

Video Recording Goes a Step Further
Another confirmed addition is 4K recording at 120 fps, a capability previously reserved for the OnePlus 15. While full camera specs aren’t out yet, the company has stated that the phone will switch to a dual-camera setup without the telephoto lens seen on the OnePlus 13R.
Plus Mind Integration for Smarter On-Device Assistance
The 15R will also include Plus Mind, OnePlus’ latest system-level intelligence tool. With the Plus Key, users can capture on-screen content, which Plus Mind can then process into reminders, events or searchable notes. It’s part of the broader shift OnePlus has made toward deeper device-level assistance that runs without relying entirely on cloud systems.
