GOOGLE has released the dates of the I/O event 2023. One of the highly anticipated launches that the leaks point to in the event is the Google Pixel 7a. In that series, the latest rumours suggest that the Pixel 7a could have a face unlock feature. WI feature would make it the first affordable phone from the search giant to come with this functionality, according to 9To5Google.
SnoopyTech (@_snoopytech_) tweeted the alleged UI screenshots of the phone that hints at the unlocking facility alongside fingerprint scanning. In the screenshot shared, a 'Face Unlock' option under the 'Ways to unlock' header is visible. Believing the information in the image, a user can set it up from that option.
According to a 9To5Google report, the affordable A series phones from Google have only featured a fingerprint reader alongside traditional methods such as PIN, Pattern and more. Additionally, the platform speculates that the phone will likely sport an under-display fingerprint sensor like its predecessor for biometrics recognition.
Currently, face unlock functionality is available on the latest Pixel 7 series handsets. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro uses 3D recognition instead of 2D imaging to unlock the phone, the report adds.
Meanwhile, the platform also revealed that the offering could have a starting price of $499 (roughly Rs 40,000). If this turns out to be correct, it would have an over Rs 10,000 price gap from the current price of its predecessor.
Coming to the specs of the phone, it could have a 6.1-inch HD+ 90Hz OLED display, according to reports. Under the hood, it will likely have a Tensor G2 chip. Speaking of memory, it will have LPDDR5 and UFW 3.1 version storage. For photography, the Pixel 7a would likely have a 64 MP primary lens with a 12MP ultra-wide sensor on the back. As for software, the 7a could run on Android 13.
Speaking of Google I/O, the event scheduled for May will bring pack interesting announcements with respect to product launches and software improvements. Meanwhile, reports in the past have hinted that Google could enter the foldable market with the debut of the Pixel Fold in the event.
