GOOGLE is gearing up for its annual I/O event in May. The most anticipated launches in the event include - Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a. While we have rich details about the 7a, Pixel Fold largely stays under wraps. But not any more, as reports have tipped that the Fold handset could launch in June.
According to jon prosser (@jon_prosser), the Google Pixel Fold will be announced on May 10. Though no separate release date has been tipped for India specifically, tech pundits have been speculating that the phone could launch in India along with its global launch.
As per leaks, Google Pixel Fold pre-orders from partners will likely start on May 30 and it could be available for buying from June 27. The Pixel Fold is tipped to launch at $1,799 (roughly Rs 1.5 Lakh - price conversion estimate).

At that price, it would face the heat from the foldable champion Samsung which dominates the foldable market in India. In the leaked renders, a triple camera setup with flash is evident. Along with the buds and the watch, the Fold is visible in two colour options - white and black. A Google logo in the middle is placed on the back. Further, antenna lines on a possible metal frame are evident. On the front, a centre punch-hole camera is visible on the secondary display.
Further, CNBC (via internal documents and images) revealed fresh information about the upcoming handset. The media house further cements the announcement of the Fold device during the I/O event. It is codenamed "Felix" and would have the "most durable hinge on a foldable," as per accessed records.
Google aims to arm it with water resistance and make it pocket-friendly with a secondary display size of 5.8 inches, it adds. It could have a 7.6-inch screen and a large battery that will likely last 24 hours. The Pixel Fold have the Tensor G2 CPU on the inside. Similar to what the Mountain View-based giant offers in the Pixel 7 series. The handset could weigh 283 grams. A Google representative refused to comment on the matter, CNBC quotes.
Happy moments for Pixel fans do not end here. The report states Google is brainstorming internally to offer the Pixel Watch at no extra cost with the Fold. Plus, "trade-in" options in the form of exchanging an old handset could be available to entice more customers.
