JE Technology Desk: Reddit, a social news and entertainment platform, after witnessing prolonged service disruptions in the United States, is now back. According to Downdetector, an outage monitoring website, the situation improved at 01:30 AM on July 23, with reports shrinking to 58, compared to around 600 disruption reports at 12:58 AM.

From the graph on the platform, it seems the outage plagued the platform at 6:00 AM today. Among the affected users, around 46 per cent are encountering issues with the website, 50 per cent report problems with server connection and 3 per cent reports are centred around the app.

Redditors are facing issues while loading posts, comments and images. "Keep getting 'We had a server error...' message whenever I load a post. Images in posts appear to not be loading as well," a user said, according to Downdetector. "Comments do not load for like 99 per cent of the time. If you refresh a quarter million times, comments will appear. Images are also very hit or miss," another one said.

Users on Twitter are also complaining about the outage. "Reddit is down the hall, buddy," one user said. The issue remains unclear as Reddit has not issued an official statement at the time of filing. Reddit also faced disruption on July 18 when search witnessed elevated error rates. The company has recently been under fire due to its API changes that amassed massive backlash.

As for more updates, users recently complained of personal chats (prior to January 2023) disappearing from the platform. The company confirmed that due to a transition to "new infrastructure", messages sent from January 1, 2023 onward will be migrated. Here is how you can get them back.

While the situation improved at around 02:45 PM (July 22) with reports shrinking to around 110, at 12:02 AM (July 23) the reports surpassed the 600+ mark.
