On Monday, users in various parts of the world, such as India and the US, experienced Reddit outages for several hours, leaving them unable to view posts, comments, feeds, or feed posts – leading them to other platforms to voice their displeasure with Reddit.

Over 6,000 users in India also took to the Reddit app and site to vent their displeasure during this outage, specifically during its 6:15 PM peak time when many were trying to access it. Pages weren't loading or were throwing up error messages – especially noticeable during that hour when users attempted to access Reddit at that momentous hour.

Reddit took record time recognising the disruption, stating that dedicated team members were fixing the attended issue. A comment was even made on the company’s status page:

“The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented.”

Later on, the site confirmed that all new fixing measures were implemented and all services were being restored.

Impact on Users

During the downtime, users reported being unable to view threads, post comments, or refresh their home feeds. The outage also impacted community moderators who rely on Reddit for real-time updates and management tools. Some users took to X (formerly Twitter) and other social platforms to share memes and reactions to the temporary disruption.

Previous Outages and Reliability Concerns

Reddit has more than 70 million active users and a cheaper server, so usually the weak server is under more pressure. The server needed improvements, esp. on important announcements. service was interrupted to many users and they were all active in the same area.
