If the recent leaks are to be considered, Samsung's upcoming flagship Galaxy S26 Edge is poised to be a great leap forward. Galaxy S26 Edge may also come with a boost to the 4,500mAh battery, 45W charging, and sleeker aesthetics with less bezel. Samsung achieving these upgrades and still maintaining the phone's ultra-thin profile is a tall order, but the company seems willing to make bold pushes. 45W charging and 4500mAh batteries are also rumoured to be released earlier than the S25's 2026 release, but those are unsubstantiated. Regardless, here is what we do know about S26 edge.

A Massive 600mAh Battery Upgrade

  • Current battery (Galaxy S25 Edge):3900mAh
  • Rumored Upgrade (Galaxy S26 Edge):4500mAh

Significant increase to battery expectations, 600 mAh is substantial. Samsung is known to be making a push for a slimmer profile with the S25. Shaving 0.1-0.2 mm off a 5.8 mm frame with a 600 mAh increase in battery would require groundbreaking technology.

The Role of Silicon-Carbon Technology

Samsung may use silicon-carbon batteries - a material commonly seen in devices like the OnePlus 13T and Motorola Edge 60 Pro - as part of this upgrade plan. This tech offers better energy density without adding bulk, but has raised concerns about long-term degradation. Samsung appears ready to take that risk for the performance gains.

Design and Build: Slimmer and More Refined

Leaks suggest ultra-thin bezels and a sleeker frame compared to the S25 Edge. Samsung is already focused on maintaining the sleek design for the flagship Android Phone, as the ultra-sleek trim will accommodate the larger battery and an array of improved internal components.

Faster Charging Speeds

The S26 Edge could finally upgrade from the 25W charging seen on the S25 Edge to 45W fast charging, matching the S25 Ultra. This improvement will dramatically reduce charging time, something fervently wished for among current S series users.

Expected Launch Timeline

  • Rumour: Late 2025 launch
  • More likely: January–February 2026

There are rumours about a late 2025 launch, but I find it much more likely for there to be an “unveiling” in 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra. Considering the supposed design modifications, battery improvements, and performance upgrades, Samsung will want to spend enough time on the engineering and testing.

Possible Camera Upgrades

Some insiders suggest that Samsung is working on camera enhancements for the Galaxy S26 Edge. Although there is not much certainty, though it remains vague, the new camera hardware is said to improve low-light capabilities and detail, possibly surpassing the upcoming models from iPhone and Pixel.
