Cases of green lines on displays of older Samsung flagships have flooded social media platforms like X (formerly called Twitter) recently. It seems the issue is on the rise in India as the manufacturer has now expanded the list of eligible devices for display replacements to include the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 series models. The recent change comes on the heels of a wide uproar online after updating Samsung phones with a Super AMOLED screen.

First spotted by SamMobile, Samsung could have planned to expand the list considering the recent rise in green line issues. For context, the company has been offering out-of-warranty free display replacements to select smartphones since July 2023. The eligible handsets include the Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy S20 series. This list now reportedly also adds Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 series models.

Apart from display repairs, these devices can also claim one-time "free replacement of the OCTA assembly, battery and a Rework Kit", according to a chat screengrab shared by Tarun Vats. The deadline to book an appointment and avail the offer at a Samsung service point is April 30, 2024. Moreover, according to a screengrab on X, the one-time free screen replacement can only be availed on the stated models within three years of purchase.

The supported devices include Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. "Samsung has decided to consider line on display issue even if your warranty has expired and there is no physical or water damage," the chat from Samsung Support read. "This policy is only applicable for phones within three years from the date of purchase."

As per reports on X, the Galaxy S21 FE is also affected by the issue after the March update. However, considering the list of eligible models, the device is not eligible for a screen replacement because of the green line issue. Meanwhile, Samsung smartphones are not the only ones facing green lines on AMOLED screens. OnePlus faced a massive backlash because of the green line issues in the past.
