TELEGRAM is among the popular instant messaging apps sharing the podium with competitors like WhatsApp. The platform has announced features including shareable chat folders via a link, improvements to bots and more changes.

This is the third update this year, according to Hindustan Times. After updating to the latest version, users can "share entire chat folders" through a link, customise wallpapers for individual chats, deploy bots to host web apps in conversations via mentions and more. Here is a break up of the features presented in the update.

Shareable Chats

A user can now share chat folders through a link to invite contacts to work groups and more. "With one tap, they will add the folder and instantly join all its chats," said Telegram.

Custom Wallpapers

Now a user can customise wallpapers for individual chats to differentiate. Once the user sets a custom wallpaper, the message will be sent to the other user so that they can apply a similar (or the same) wallpaper. To set up the wallpaper, tap on the three dots in the individual chats, then tap on wallpaper and manipulate the settings depending on your choice.

Upgraded Bots

"Telegram bots are able to host seamless web apps, bringing services and utilities to millions of users – these web apps can now be launched in any chat," the blog added. Supported bots can be accessed through a mention or a link in the chats.

Bots can now use "collectible usernames" that include links in the absence of a bot suffix.

Other Changes

- The attachment menu can move at "super-fast speeds" after tapping the date bar and hovering it up and down.

- Groups having less than 100 members can now access more information on activities within the group like read timestamps for messages.

- The "Send When Online" feature would now require lesser taps.

- A group can be created "without adding members" for the creator to configure permissions and pin messages beforehand.

- A new animation that merges the profile photo in Dynamic Island when a user scrolls through a profile has been introduced.

A user can buy Telegram premium via Fragment. According to Android Police, the updated version announced is Telegram 9.6.
