Motorola phones that will be released in the second half of 2024 and thereafter are going to have Corning Gorilla Glass. With this, the company hopes to provide better glass protection for the modern displays found in smartphones today. During MWC 2024, the company announced a partnership with Corning to add Gorilla Glass protection to all smartphones launching in the second half of 2024.
However, the company has not announced any phone name and the variants of Corning Gorilla Glass protection offered at the time of writing this article. According to a report by 9to5Google, the company is showing the Gorilla Glass 5 and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 at its booth at MWC booth. For those unaware, the Gorilla Glass offers damage and scratch protection while allowing for sensitive touch response.

With this, Motorola hopes to provide "access to the durability and peace of mind that comes with this cutting-edge technology," according to Ruben Castano, Head of Customer Experience at Motorola.
Typically, top-end smartphones already have Gorilla Glass protection, but this move will undoubtedly have an impact on customers looking for entry-level or mid-range smartphones, as the company has announced the move for all smartphones.
In addition, Lenovo, Motorola's parent company, has announced that Gorilla Glass screens will be available for select laptops and tablets. Furthermore, the company introduced a Smart Connect feature, which will serve as a seamless connectivity tool for cross-connection with Lenovo and Motorola devices. The feature will be available to the general public in the coming months and may allow users to use a PC keyboard on both devices, sync notifications and clipboard and even use their phone as a webcam and hotspot.

Alternative glass alternatives, like Dragontail, are becoming more widespread for budget and mid-range smartphones, and it remains to be seen how this change will affect the company's sales and overall phone performance.
