Vodafone Idea Tariff Hike: Hours after Jio and Airtel announced their tariff rates in India, Vodafone Idea (Vi) joined the league to introduce its new prepaid and postpaid plans, which will be effective from July 4, 2024. According to Vi, the revised prices have "nominal" changes in the entry-level plans. The new tariff hike by major telecom companies is among the efforts to increase the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) owing to the high cost of 5G services.
The company further plans to invest to boost its 4G and 5G services in India in the upcoming quarters. For context, Vi already offers a range of exclusive perks to its prepaid subscribers such as free night data and weekend data rollover under its 'Hero Unlimited' offerings. Plus, the company has a 'Choose you Benefit' feature for its postpaid users for its Vi Max plans, according to Vi's press release. As for the revised plans, these will be available across current channels and touch points.
