WhatsApp's Android app is affected by a bug which is restricting some users from sending videos to recipients from their phones. Several accounts on X (formerly called Twitter) and Reddit have reported about the issue. Users see a prompt that the video was not sent to the recipient and they can choose a different video to try again. According to 9To5Google, the bug is affecting the recent versions of the app on Android.
According to the news outlet's test, the problem while sending videos exists on the app and the prompt appears: "Can't send this video. Choose a different video and try again." While processing videos on WhatsApp seems problematic, sending photos and other files works fine. The bug affects the videos shot using an Android phone and the clips stored on the device.
Whatsapp has become completely unreliable when it comes to sending videos. I get this all the time now on my Pixel 8 Pro @WhatsApp:

However, MOV file formats and videos shot using iPhones can be shared without issues. Plus, clips received from contacts can be exchanged with others without any hiccups. It also noted files downloaded from Instagram cannot be shared with contacts. The issue is not affecting all users and was spotted during testing on Android devices including Galaxy S series models.
The problem reportedly exists in the beta "2.24.9.34" build of testers. However, more recent versions may also be affected. WABetaInfo, a well-known platform for WhatsApp-related updates, also iterated about the issue a few days ago. "It appears that some users are experiencing an issue with uploading videos after installing the latest version of WhatsApp beta for Android," @WABetaInfo said.

While a fix remains unavailable, a temporary solution could be to downgrade to a previous version (like 2.24.8.85) if you are affected. Android Police noted the feature is also affecting some stable versions of WhatsApp on Android. The AP author spotted the issue on Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro while sending videos from the device and Google Photos. WhatsApp Business seems to remain unaffected by the bug.
