WhatsApp is introducing a plethora of new features with the goal of improving the platform's user experience and security. WhatsApp has released a new update that allows users to link their accounts to a specific email address. Due to increasing scams and safety concerns, the Meta-owned network is considering moving away from SMS verification.

The feature, which was before accessible in a WhatsApp beta version, is now available to all users. WhatsApp for iOS has added email verification in version 23.24.70, which is now available on the App Store, as reported by WABetaInfo. If a user needs to access their WhatsApp account while they are somewhere without cellular coverage, they can use this option in place of SMS verification.

Tap the Your Profile page, then the Account menu, and lastly Email Address to add an email address to your account. WhatsApp makes it clear that the email address is kept private and is only required to access the account. It should be emphasised that users will still require a working phone number in order to use WhatsApp, as the email address is just used for authentication.

Meanwhile, a new audio chat feature coming soon from WhatsApp will make connecting with big groups on the app less disruptive. Voice chats let you message in the group chat and have real-time conversations with other participants.

Not only that, some WhatsApp beta testers get access to the Meta AI chatbot. The testers have access to all of the chatbot's features, which include recommendation-making, clever joke delivery, resolving disputes in group chats, and acting as an informed information source akin to ChatGPT, Bard, or Bing. Also, it can arrange your travels.
