WHATSAPP is among the most popular instant messaging app across the world. The platform is available in more than 180 countries with 2 billion users. To ensure privacy for its users, it has and constantly brings several security features to its app. One such feature is 'Fingerprint lock' on Android and 'Screen Lock' on iOS.

Through this article, we have elaborated on the step-by-step process for you to enable this setting for additional security from intruders.

Enable 'Fingerprint lock' in WhatsApp on Android

Step 1: Head to WhatsApp

Step 2: Tap on the 'three dots' at the top right in the app interface

Step 3: Tap on 'Settings' and then tap on 'Privacy'

Step 4: Scroll down and find 'Fingerprint lock'

Step 5: Toggle on the 'Unlock with fingerprint'

Step 6: Verify your identity and set the relocking duration

Once you complete the authentication process, set the duration when the fingerprint will lock automatically from the available options. 'Immediately', 'After 1 minute', and 'After 30 minutes' are the three choices. You can also opt to 'Show content in notifications' in case you want to access message highlights from the notification bar.

If you want to disable it back, just turn off the 'Unlock with fingerprint' toggle.

Enable Touch ID or Face ID on iOS Devices

Step 1: Head to WhatsApp

Step 2: Open Settings by tapping on the button in the bottom right

Step 3: Tap on 'Account' and then tap on 'Privacy'

Step 4: Locate 'Screen Lock'

Step 5: Turn on 'Require Touch ID' or 'Require Face ID' option

Step 6: Choose the relock duration

You can disable the option by turning off the toggle. In case Touch ID or Face ID fails to unlock the app, a user can enter the 'iPhone passcode' to use the platform, WhatsApp notes. Other note-worthy features that the platform deploys include end-to-end encryption, two-step verification and more.
