WhatsApp, a popular messaging app, is introducing a new feature that allows users to go forward and backwards in videos, giving them more flexibility and content navigation. The feature is currently available in the beta version of the Android 2.23.24.6 update. It is available on Google Play Store and brings back the familiar navigation technique to the platform.

Users can browse forward and backwards videos by double-tapping the left or right side of the screen, just like on popular video-sharing websites like YouTube. This feature simplifies video viewing by allowing viewers to fast-forward to crucial spots or rewind to go back and watch specific chunks without relying on the progress metre.

The new video skip function not only saves time but also enhances user engagement with video content shared on WhatsApp and improves content navigation. This feature was not available on the platform and is now expected to increase the user experience.

The feature is currently in the testing phase and is expected to roll out in a phased manner to a wider audience in the coming weeks. Currently, the feature is currently available for select beta teasers who have installed the recent version on their Android phones.

Meanwhile, the platform is also testing a new feature that will allow users to add a different profile feature. It will allow users to designate an alternative name and profile photo for persons who are not on their contact list.
