WhatsApp AI Tab: The Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp, a platform with more than 2 billion users worldwide is often changing with its updates and addition of new features. Speaking of new additions and features it turns out that developers are reportedly working on a new functionality that would allow the users to create their own AI-powered avatars.

In the latest WhatsApp v2.25.1.26 beta for Android, the ‘Communities’ tab has been replaced by a new section called ‘AIs’ as per the report by WABetaInfo. This new feature, similar to Meta’s AI Studio for Instagram, will enable users to design personalized AI chatbots with specific traits.

Although AI chatbots are not a new thing for WhatsApp, the ability for users to create their own personalized characters with the help of AI would be a refreshing addition. Each AI avatar created by the user will have its own indigenous traits that will set it apart from the crowd.

As for the Communities feature, WhatsApp appears to be moving it to the main ‘Chats’ tab. Since this functionality is still in development, there’s no exact timeline for when users will be able to create their own AI chatbots, so you’ll need to wait a bit longer for this feature to go live.

In other updates, WhatsApp recently introduced a built-in document scanner for iOS users, eliminating the need for third-party apps. The company also expanded WhatsApp Pay, a UPI-based payment service, allowing users to send and receive money seamlessly.
