Instant Messaging application WhatsApp regularly gets limelight for testing new features across platforms. In the latest move to improve the user experience, the company is now testing a refreshed user interface for the status updates tray, which could arrive on the stable version of Android soon, according to WABetaInfo. The new system updates tray is under development and will be released for testers soon.
According to the report, the change was spotted in the "Android 2.24.4.23" build. As evident in the linked screenshot in the report, the new status tray will be placed at the top in the 'Updates' tab to make the status easily accessible once the user opens the tab. The new UI will enable users to preview the first status from the thumbnail.
This will eliminate the problem faced in the horizontal layout to individually check the contents of each update and enable them to check the preview of the updates via the thumbnail in the tray. The change is set to make the status-viewing experience more intuitive and refresh elements in the UI to suit the user experience.

On a related note, the company is also rolling out the feature to transfer the ownership of a channel in the latest beta versions of Android and iOS. It will allow users to give up a channel's ownership to trusted admins via the channel info screen. Once the recipient accepts the request, they will become the owner of a channel and can start managing its contents.
The new feature will enable users to transfer responsibilities due to varying reasons, including time limitations, changed priorities and more. This move can also help ensure the channel in question remains active and functional. On iPhones, you can update the version from the TestFlight app to "iOS 24.4.10.70" to test out the feature. As for Android, testers can update WhatsApp to "2.24.4.22" version.
