WhatsApp, a Meta-owned instant messaging app, continuously develops and tests new features in beta to improve user experience. Continuing this series of feature updates, the company is experimenting with several features on its platform. For starters, the first one includes the option to favourite contacts in the calls tab. Secondly, the chat lock feature is also undergoing development on the web. For more details, here are the four features the company is experimenting with right now.

Favourite Contacts In Calls: The feature is undergoing development in the beta version '24.3.10.70' on iOS. It will allow WhatsApp accounts to make calls to their favourite contacts faster. Once released to beta testers, the selected contacts will appear first within the calls tab. The shortcut will ensure that calling options for these contacts are "just one tap away" for quick access.

WhatsApp Channel Reports: Discovered in the beta version '2.24.3.31' on Android, this feature will allow access to channel reports, the WhatsApp tracker noted. It will allow users to access the channel reports in a comprehensive list. The option will likely be available in the 'Help' section in Settings. "If you report a channel, you can see your report and the outcome here," the description in the screengrab of the tab noted. The tab will also include updates and outcomes of actions on reports sent to the moderation team.

Chat Lock On WhatsApp Web: The company is developing a tab for locked chats, which may be available on the web client soon. It will extend privacy and security to select chats on the web, similar to smartphones. The WABetaInfo report speculates that the feature could have secret code functionality for accessing these chats and an option to hide the locked chats tab. Users could store personal, confidential and sensitive chats in the folder for added security in the future.

Auto-Create Account Reports: Undergoing experimentation in the Android beta version "2.24.3.30", the option will create account reports automatically. The option to create account and channel reports automatically may be available in the "Request account info" tab. It will create a monthly report of the user's account and channel activity.

According to the report, the feature is not rolling out for beta testers at the moment. For the unaware, WhatsApp released the feature to request account reports in 2018 in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules. The new feature will likely automate this process.
