WhatsApp AI Tools:Meta is reportedly preparing to roll out two new AI-driven features for WhatsApp, both designed to improve user experience and offer more ways to customise the app. Recently uncovered in beta builds, these tools are part of Meta’s broader effort to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into its services, making everyday interactions smarter and more efficient.
Smarter Summaries for Busy Chats
The first feature in development is a message summarisation tool aimed at helping users quickly catch up on conversations they've missed. As reported by WABetaInfo, the feature is currently being tested on WhatsApp’s Android app. When a chat becomes particularly active, users will see a new “Summarise with Meta AI” button appear. Tapping it will generate a condensed overview of the most recent messages, making it easier to grasp the gist of a conversation without scrolling through dozens of unread texts.
This could be especially useful for group chats or large broadcast channels, where messages often pile up quickly. According to Meta, the feature will still preserve end-to-end encryption, meaning message summaries will be generated without compromising privacy or security. There’s no official release date yet, but it’s expected to be included in a future app update.
AI Wallpapers for a Personal Touch
The second feature under development focuses on visual personalisation. Meta is working on an AI-powered wallpaper generator that will let users create custom chat backgrounds using text prompts. Found under the Wallpaper settings, the new “Create with AI” option will allow users to describe the kind of background they want—such as a cosy cabin, tropical beach, or cyberpunk skyline—and Meta AI will generate several wallpaper options to choose from.
Users will also be able to tweak their prompts, experiment with different styles, and regenerate new designs until they find one that fits their taste. This gives people more creative control over their chat aesthetics and reflects Meta’s growing focus on personalised user experiences.
Together, these upcoming features highlight how WhatsApp is evolving from a simple messaging app into a more dynamic, AI-enhanced communication platform. From helping users keep up with conversations to giving them new tools to personalise their digital space, AI is becoming a core part of how people use the app every day.
