WhatsApp, a popular instant messaging application, has been in the news for testing new features across its platforms. In the latest series, the company is experimenting with the instructions within the document attachment menu to allow users to send original quality videos and photos (of up to 2GB) without compression. The feature is rolling out for iOS beta users, according to a report from WABetaInfo.

As per the report, the menu is available in the "23.23.1.74" version for iPhone testers via the TestFlight app. Moreover, the option may be live in some stable versions. It is limited to a small set of users, the news tracker noted. While the feature has been available on WhatsApp for a long time via this menu, the new option will help users skip the tour of the storage menus while selecting the file.

In the screengrab shared in the report, the option to "Choose Photo or Video" is available directly in the Document upload menu below the "Choose from Files" alternative. The Meta-owned app clearly states that users can upload files of "up to 2GB in size" using the feature.

These new options can help add awareness around the enhanced use cases of the Document upload icon within the attachment menu. Plus, this can also solve the challenges of navigating across the file manager interfaces and allow direct selection of original media and sending it without any quality loss. It can be helpful in a variety of use cases where details and quick transfer of files over the internet in a connected ecosystem are the topmost priority.
