Notepad, a popular alternative to Microsoft Word, has now finally got a function which will let users see the number of characters and words in the document. The feature was missing from the platform ever since it was invented.
The new feature comes with the latest channel test build of Windows 11. As per the reports, the platform will now show the character count display on the bottom left corner of the screen, which is much similar to Microsoft Word. With this, the platform aims to track the length of the long format text.

The feature will be available by default and will show the total number of characters in the document. Just like other text editors, the application will show the character count of the selected section of text as well. Now it is for sure that the feature will help the users who prefer Notepad for their text based tasks.
The US-based software company has already made a series of enhancements to Notepad this year, including the addition of an Auto Save option, which allows users to save the text at regular intervals, reducing the risk of losing the users' progress. Not only that, the company has also added tabs, which allows users to manage multiple doc files. It also has a dark mode for comfortable night time usage. Additionally, it also gets a virtual fidget spinner, which aims to enhance the user experience.
