WWDC 2024 Roundup: Apple has finally announced iOS 18, iPadOS, macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, and the show-stopping Apple Intelligence (AI features for iPhones, iPads, and Macs). It also included a smarter Siri, ChatGPT integration, new features for Photos, home screen, control centre, lock screen, game mode, satellite messaging, and other enhancements.

Apple Intelligence:

Apple has announced AI-powered features for the iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. It will be available with the public rollout in September and the users will be able to get their hands on the AI features like Writing tools for Mails and Messages, Genmoji and custom emoji along with smarter and ChatGPT-4o powered Siri.

Siri will now summarise articles, extract information from photos or even edit them using Gen AI. Also, Apple claims that AI actions are on-device and completely safe. Apple Intelligence uses ChatGPT to assist Siri with tasks like meal planning or more.

iOS 18

iOS 18 is now more customisable with a complete revamp to the home screen. The users will be able to customise their icons, colour contrasts and more. Apple has also made tweaks to the Control Centre and Lock Screens along with Settings. Photos have also been revamped with new structures like a new upper and lower grid with collections and search abilities. It also shows a short video with your photos and videos.

iOS 18 also brings RCS support along with new lock and hide application options which means more security. It also gets revamped Notes and Calculator applications. It also gets scheduled messages, new message effects and iMessage via Satellite.

iPadOS 18

The iPadOS 18 also gets the same UI design revamps as iOS 18. For the first time, the iPads are also getting a Calculator application but it's smarter than you think. It gets a Math Notes feature which can solve complex maths problems in real time and even use graphs, diagrams and more. It also gets screen sharing within Share Play and Smart Script in Notes. It also gets a dedicated Game Mode.

macOS Sequoia:

The new macOS includes a slew of AI-powered features, but the standout was iPhone Mirroring. Users will be able to use their iPhones on their Macs, including operating them, seeing notifications, and importing files into Final Cut Pro via iPhone Mirroring. It receives the Passwords application and a collection of photos. It also gets Highlights in Safari, which provide additional information about the page, such as summaries. It also receives Math Notes and a redesigned Reader.

watchOS 11

The watchOS 11 also introduces a number of new features, including the training load, which uses workout metrics to estimate the effort levels for each session. It also includes the Vitals app, which tracks heart rate, temperature, and respiratory measurements. The Activity App update also includes customisable data views and detailed pregnancy insights in Cycle Tracking.

visionOS 2:

After four months of visionOS, the company has introduced visionOS2 with some new features like spatial photos, new gesture controls, and improved Mac screen mirroring. It will expand to more countries like Australia, Canada and the UK,

AirPods Pro:

Apple has also announced new features such as improved voice isolation for calls and Silent Siri Interactions, which allow users to nod to answer calls and shake to decline them.
