X (formerly known as Twitter) has been in the news for rebranding and new features in its platforms. Elon Musk introduced the new logo on the app last month, which has created ripples in media reports for a while now. The tech billionaire had announced a few hours before updating the symbol that x.com will point to twitter.com. It seems the company is working to permanently make the new domain the default web address.
X News Daily, a reliable source for X-related news, said in a post: "Links shared off the iOS app now link to http://X.com instead of https://twitter.com." The update was confirmed by The Verge.
As per the information, once users copy a post link from the share sheet on the iOS app, the links now have a domain as X.com and not Twitter.com. However, on the web, the old URLs prevail. But it might change any time soon. On Android also, the links of posts start with Twitter.com.
Besides the web address changes, the app logo has witnessed changes on the desktop, Android and iOS devices. The Twitter Blue service has been renamed to X Premium. Earlier called 'tweets', activity on the profile is now called - 'Posts'. With the branding overhaul, the top brass aims to transform X into a super app that can help users with multiple tasks such as payments, social media, banking and more.
In another series of updates, the social media company has introduced its ads revenue sharing program in India to help users earn money from their activity on X.
To add users to the eligibility bucket, the company lowered the minimum requirements to earn income from X. Besides being a paid subscriber, a user must have five million organic impressions on posts in the last three months and have 500 followers. It also lowered the minimum payout to $10.
