YouTube Premium, one of the popular subscriptions which offers a variety of features including an ad-free experience, has officially surpassed 100 million Music and Premium subscribers globally. The Google-owned platform, including the trails, achieved this feat in January this year.
From modest beginnings to a community of 100 million people in more than 100 countries, according to YouTube's Vice President of Product, Adam Smith, "we're grateful to our subscribers for their support".

"We've remained focused on delivering a best-in-class experience to our global YouTube community," he said on his blog. Over the course of the previous year, YouTube improved the Premium playback experience by introducing an improved version of 1080p HD and enabling users to continue watching YouTube on other platforms, including tablets and smart TVs.
"We also experimented with new generative AI features that Premium users were among the first to try," stated Smith. The platform gave users access to podcasts on YouTube Music, the Samples tab, a lightning-fast method of finding new music, and a fully customisable radio-building experience.
YouTube Premium offers a lot of features including an ad-free experience along with the ability to play the videos in the background and more.
The music industry has reached a significant milestone with YouTube Premium and Music surpassing 100 million subscribers, according to Neeraj Kalyan, President of T-Series. "We will continue investing in our strong partnership with Google that will help grow the subscription business, enhance fan experiences and contribute to the overall growth of the Indian music ecosystem," Kalyan stated.
According to The Verge, YouTube's primary source of revenue is advertising and not subscriptions. However, it will have a positive impact on the company’s revenue stream.
