YouTube has stated that it is testing AI-generated summaries on the platform, which will provide users with a concise overview of the video and allow them to decide whether or not to watch it. The Google-owned platform has revealed that it is now being tested with a limited number of users.
Till now, the users did have the option to read the About section and the title of the video and with this move, the company aims to offer a synopsis of the video to let the user decide whether the piece of content is fit for their time or not, the company said on its test features and experiments page. "To begin with, you may see these summaries on watch and search pages," it said. The company has also mentioned that it will not be replacing the video descriptions, which are written by the creators themselves.
"This experiment is only operating with a small number of videos (en only) and viewers, so if you see the functionality, please offer feedback!" the platform said.
Meanwhile, the business disclosed that it is testing a new lock screen feature that will let consumers turn off inadvertent touch inputs when watching videos on Android or iOS devices. The business wants to assist users with taps that pause, skip, or otherwise disrupt videos.

The business has also said that it is testing a brand-new function that would enable consumers to smoothly watch films at a 2x speed. Long pressing anywhere on the player while watching a video activates this feature, which instantly doubles the playback speed.
The business was also trying a different feature that gives users larger previews while they search. The platform is said to get this feature as it will be easier for users to locate the precise selection of video that they want to stream.
