YouTube, a popular video streaming platform, which is widely used by users all across the globe has now announced a new feature which would allow the users to watch the videos two times faster speed easily. The feature is currently under testing, and as per the reports, YouTube Premium users will be able to access the feature starting August 13.

The company intends to enhance the user interface for everyone so that it would become easier to stream the video faster. Until now, the users are required to follow a few steps procedure to move up the playback speed, which can be annoying to the audience in some cases. The company also mentioned another feature it is testing that provides bigger previews to users while seeking.

Not only that, the new feature will allow users to help find the exact moment in the video that they want to watch.

"Long press anywhere on the player while watching a video to automatically bump the playback speed to 2x," the company said on its experiments page. "We've enlarged the preview thumbnail that you see when moving forward or back in a video," it added.

Meanwhile, the company is also working on the Stable Volume feature for the users, which will reportedly act as a normaliser between the two different videos and equalise the sound to make it less annoying.

The feature intends to solve the problem of increasing and decreasing volume, which makes the user feel irritated sometimes. However, the report suggests that YouTube may not apply the feature to music videos.

Not only that, the company has also announced that it is testing a new lock screen feature, using which the users will be able to disable the touch while watching a video. The company aims to offer a solution for accidental tap, skip, and disruption.
