Balapur Ganesh Laddu Auction: All Eyes On This Year's Bid, Likely To Break All-Time Record

Balapur Ganesh Laddu Auction 2023: As Ganesh visarjan begins today, all eyes are set on the famous Balapur Ganesh Laddu auction, which will take place infront of the Ganapati idol at Balapur village of Balapur mandal in Telangana's Rangareddy, ahead of idol immersion. It is located five kilometers away from Chandrayangutta in south Hyderabad.

In 2022, Ganesh Laddu was auctioned at Rs 24.60 lakh, which was Rs 5.70 lakh more than in 2021. According to Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi president Kallem Niranjan Reddy, the laddu is projected to set a new record this year.

Vangeti Lakshma Reddy, a local farmer, purchased the laddu at an open auction in 2022 for Rs 24.60 lakh.

Ganesh Laddu has been auctioned since 1994. Kolan Mohan Reddy, a local farmer, paid Rs 450 for it. Mohan Reddy sprinkled laddu prasadam on his land after giving it to his family and neighbors, and the yield increased.

The money collected through the auction is used for various development activities in the villages. Even Muslims have participated in the bidding on more than three occasions.

The money was used to renovate an old temple in the village at a cost of Rs 21 lakh and a shed was put up at a local government school with Rs 1.45 lakh. The upset price is fixed by the committee and it remains the same every year.
