Hyderabad News: The Telangana Government has announced an extension of operating hours for various businesses in Hyderabad, aiming to enhance service and convenience for customers. Under new guidelines from the Hyderabad City Police, eateries are now allowed to remain open until 1 AM. This change benefits all types of food establishments, including ice cream parlours, dhabas and other outlets, enabling them to serve customers from 5 AM to 1 AM Previously, these venues were required to close by midnight, as per the A.P. Shops and Establishments Act of 1988.

Hyderabad Retail Shops Operating Hours

In addition to food services, retail shops, including clothing stores, jewellery shops, supermarkets, electronic shops and mobile phone outlets, can now operate from 9 AM to 11 PM daily, according to The Hindu report. This move is designed to stimulate retail activity and improve shopping convenience for consumers throughout the state.

Hyderabad Liquor Shops Operating Hour Extended

Moreover, the operating hours for liquor shops and bars have also been extended. In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) areas and up to 5 kilometres beyond, liquor establishments can now open from 10 AM to midnight during weekdays, with extended hours until 1  on Fridays and Saturdays. This decision is expected to further enhance nightlife and leisure options in the city.

In separate news, the gates of the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs have been raised due to heavy rain in Hyderabad. The Osmansagar gates were lifted one foot to release 234 cusecs downstream, while Himayatsagar, reaching a full tank level of 1,763.5 feet, also had one gate opened. Authorities have alerted residents in low-lying areas about potential water discharge risks as more rain is expected, following significant rainfall in nearby districts, including a record 123.3 mm in Mulugu.
