Hyderabad News: A group of friends dining at a popular biryani restaurant in Hyderabad, located on RTC X Road, found a cigarette butt in their dish. The incident, which occurred at Bawarchi, has sparked outrage online after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The video begins with diners visibly upset, protesting after the unsavoury find in their biryani. One of the friends lifts a plate to show the cigarette butt embedded in the dish, showing the shocking contamination.

As the situation unfolded, staff members from the restaurant, including a representative of the establishment owned by Salman Mansoori, attempted to calm the distressed customers. They engaged in discussions to address the diners' complaints and provide explanations.

During the video, one of the patrons suggested that the presence of the cigarette butt might be due to someone smoking in the kitchen, raising concerns about hygiene and food safety.

Vineeth K, who shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) on November 25, captioned it, “Cigarette butts in Bawarchi biryani." He humorously suggested that it might be safer to learn to cook biryani at home to avoid such incidents.

Since its posting, the video has rapidly gained attention, amassing over 14.3k views as people reacted in the comments. One user stated, “I kept a cook bro. Monthly 5k,” while another joked, “They added for additional taste,” and a third wrote, “Butts flavour biryani.”

The incident is part of a growing concern over food contamination in Hyderabad. Earlier in November, 23-year-old Ravi’s craving for chicken biryani at a different restaurant, Green Bawarchi in Neredmet, led to a medical emergency when he fell seriously ill with acute gastroenteritis, likely caused by contaminated food. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors saved his life.

In light of these incidents, food safety inspections have been ramped up across the city. Authorities have uncovered unsanitary conditions, synthetic food colours and the use of leftover food in several eateries. The latest revelations are putting pressure on restaurants to improve hygiene standards to ensure public safety.
