Two unidentified persons kidnapped a five-year-old differently-abled child from the Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday, police said. The child, identified as Shiva Sai, is deaf and dumb and had arrived from Tirupati with his father, Durgesh, who is a resident of Medak district of Telangana. The police suspect the involvement of the begging mafia in the kidnapping.

The victim’s father informed the police that he had left his son and luggage on platform number one to go to the washroom. When he returned, the child was not there. He searched for him and then approached the railway police.

The police scanned the CCTV footage in the railway station and found two unidentified persons carrying the child. They have constituted special teams to trace and rescue the child.

In another incident, a six-month-old boy was abducted from Niloufer Hospital for children in Hyderabad, a government-run facility on September 14. His mother had left him alone to get some food, following a search the woman was unable to find his son after which she reported the incident to police. 

Police initiated an investigation after receiving the missing complaint and after a week, the police found the child with a couple in Rangareddy district.
