Hyderabad News: A man fatally stabbed his sister during a family argument on Wednesday night in Old Malakpet. The suspect, Madan Rao, visited his mother’s home and became embroiled in a quarrel with his 68-year-old sister Laxmi and his 70-year-old brother Sudarshan over family matters.

In a fit of rage, Madan entered the kitchen, grabbed a knife and launched a violent attack on both Laxmi and Sudarshan. Laxmi succumbed to her injuries at the scene due to severe bleeding, while Sudarshan was injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The police were alerted and quickly apprehended Madan, who is reported to have mental health issues. This is not his first offence, as he has previously been involved in a similar case.

In sepaarate news, a 22-year-old pregnant woman, Shabana Parveen, suffered serious injuries after being brutally attacked by her husband, Mohd Basrath, in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The incident took place on April 1 but surfaced after a video of the assault went viral on social media on Sunday. The couple, who had a love marriage in October 2024, had been living separately in a rented house in Hafeezpet following disputes with Basrath’s parents. Frequent quarrels reportedly took place between them.

On the night of the incident, after Parveen was discharged from the hospital following treatment for pregnancy-related health issues, an argument broke out between the two. In a fit of rage, Basrath pushed her to the road and assaulted her with a cement brick, causing severe head injuries. Believing she had died, he fled the scene. Police reached the spot, shifted her to the hospital, and later arrested Basrath. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
