Hyderabad News: Police have filed a case against 11 YouTubers and social media influencers for allegedly promoting betting apps on various social media platforms. The case, registered at Panjagutta Police Station, falls under the relevant sections of the BNS, Gaming Act and IT Act.

According to a Telangana Today report, this action follows a complaint by Vinay Vangala, a 40-year-old private employee from Matrushrinagar. He raised concerns about mobile apps and websites promoting gambling, which he claims violate the Public Gambling Act of 1867. Vinay stated that these platforms aggressively target young adults, making gambling easily accessible and leading to financial problems for users.

In his complaint, he detailed the influencers involved, providing their social media handles and the names of the betting apps. Among those charged are Harsha Sai, Vishnu Priya, Supreeta, Imran, Ritu Chowdhary, and Tasty Teja.

The complaint alleges that these betting apps have facilitated transactions worth thousands of crores and urged authorities to take prompt action to stop their spread. Vinay also expressed his willingness to assist with further investigations.

 

The Punjagutta police registered the case under various sections, including Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Sections 3, 3A, and 4 of the Gaming Act, and Section 66D of the IT Act. A police official stated, "We will summon and question them," confirming that the investigation is ongoing.
