Hyderabad News: Two policemen in an alleged drunken state were caught on camera misbehaving with two men at Puranapul Bridge on Saturday night. The officers stopped a motorbike and reportedly assaulted the riders, one of whom recorded the incident on his phone.
The video accessed by Siasat shows the policemen, wearing jackets, arguing with the men before walking back to their own bike after realising they were being filmed. A crowd soon gathered at the spot, and the officers allegedly issued threats of action.
The footage has since gone viral and is now being circulated by the Hyderabad city police’s IT wing to identify the accused. Many social media users have tagged Commissioner CV Anand, urging strict action and a departmental enquiry into the incident.
In separate news, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has warned that Telangana will experience extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday, August 17. Several districts are under a red alert as intense showers are expected to continue, while Hyderabad may witness rain or thundershowers.
The forecast indicates that heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds will affect the state over the coming days. For August 18 and 19, the IMD has placed multiple districts under an orange alert. Meanwhile, Hyderabad city has been kept under a yellow alert until August 20, with chances of moderate showers and gusty winds.
Weather tracker T. Balaji, known for his accurate updates, also predicted widespread rains this evening. According to him, Bhadradri, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Hanmakonda, Karimnagar, Jagitial, Nizamabad, and several other districts are likely to record heavy to very heavy rainfall, while Adilabad, Mancherial, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, and nearby areas could see moderate to heavy rains overnight.
With wet weather expected through midweek, residents have been advised to stay alert and plan travel carefully to avoid disruptions.
