Hyderabad Traffic Advisory: Ahead of the International Kite Festival, scheduled to take place from January 13 to 15 at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, Officials have implemented several traffic restrictions. These measures aim to manage the expected influx of visitors and ensure safety during the event.

Hyderabad traffic Diversions

Traffic will be diverted or halted on multiple routes. Vehicles coming from Rotary ‘X’ Road intending to head towards State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) will be redirected at YMCA towards Clock Tower. Similarly, commuters from Rasoolpura aiming for Plaza will be diverted at CTO ‘X’ roads towards Balamrai.

To avoid congestion, the public is advised to steer clear of key junctions, particularly those around the Parade Grounds. Roads linking Begumpet and the Parade Grounds are expected to be busy, while the stretch between Tivoli ‘X’ roads and Plaza ‘X’ roads will be closed during the festival.

Hyderabad Heavy Traffic Areas

Areas anticipated to experience heavy traffic include Alugaddbavi X roads, Sangeet X roads, YMCA ‘X’ roads, Patny ‘X’ roads, SBH ‘X’ roads, Plaza, CTO Junction, Brookbond Junction, Tivoli Junction, Sweekar Upakar Junction, Secunderabad Club, Tadbund X roads, Centre Point, Diamond Point, Bowenpally X roads and Rasoolpura. Commuters are also advised to avoid R.P Road and S.D Road.

For those travelling from Picket to SBH and Tivoli, diversions will take place at Sweekar Upakar towards YMCA. Traffic from NCC heading towards Plaza will also be diverted at Tivoli towards Brookbond.

Passengers using the Jubilee Bus Station for train or RTC bus services are encouraged to leave earlier than usual to ensure timely arrivals at the railway station. They are also advised to take advantage of the Metro Rail Service.

Parking Areas

As for parking, participants in the festival can use various designated areas. Available parking spots include the East Gate and West Gate of the Parade Grounds, Cantonment Playground, Gymkhana Ground and Bison Polo Ground.

This seventh International Kite Flying Festival is organised by the state tourism and cultural department, featuring both national and international kite flyers. Enthusiasts from countries such as Indonesia, Switzerland, Australia, Sri Lanka, Canada, Cambodia, Scotland, Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy, Taiwan, South Africa and the Netherlands will showcase their skills.

A total of 50 international kite flyers and 60 local participants from states like Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are expected to join the festivities. Daily kite displays will run from 10 AM to 8 PM, with organisers providing shamiana tents and drinking water facilities for visitors.
