Hyderabad Weather: Several areas in Hyderabad received moderate rainfall on Saturday, May 24, bringing a welcome break from the summer heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted cloudy skies and light surface winds over the city and nearby regions.

The rain, accompanied by light breeze, began suddenly in the evening and affected multiple localities across the city. Kukatpally received the highest rainfall in the Greater Hyderabad region, recording 25.3 mm, as per data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS). Borabanda followed with 24.3 mm, while Quthbullapur logged 23.3 mm. Madhapur, Jubilee Hills, Hyder Nagar and Khajaguda also saw rainfall between 19 mm and 22 mm.

Apart from these localities, consistent rainfall was also noted in GHMC circles such as Moosapet, Gajularamaram and Serilingampally, although the rainfall in these areas remained below 20 mm.

Across Telangana, the highest rainfall was reported in Kethireddipalli, Ranga Reddy district, at 33.5 mm. Damaragidda in Narayanpet recorded 28.3 mm and Dhanora in Kumuram Bheem received 26.3 mm. Other districts like Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nizamabad and Jagtial also experienced more than 20 mm of rain.

Telangana Weather Forecast: Yellow Alert Issued

IMD has now issued a yellow alert for several districts in Telangana, warning of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also expected in scattered parts of the state.

Citizens have been advised to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and to take caution while travelling, as visibility might be affected by haze and sudden wind gusts. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Hyderabad are likely to remain around 32 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
