A 26-year-old man died by suicide at his residence in Hyderbad’s  Jagathgirigutta municipal division on Sunday, reportedly after losing his mobile phone. The victim identified as Nitish was found hanging by his family members on Sunday morning, police said. 

According to the police, Nitish was upset over losing his mobile phone and was unable to find it. Police officials said the man had searched for it everywhere but could not locate it which they suspect that could have been the reason for him to take the extreme step. 

No suicide note was found at the spot. Police have registered a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of the CrPC and are investigating the matter.

In another incident, a young man from Myohar village in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh died by suicide on September 10, after recording a Facebook reel on his unfulfilled love. The Facebook video, which lasted for 14 seconds, showed him playing a sad song in the background and then taking an extreme step.

The song that he chose for the reel was ‘Teri Mohabbat Pa Leta Aise Meri Taqdeer Na Thi’, which means ‘I wish I could get your love, but it was not my fate’. The villagers said that the youth was in love with a girl, but could not be with her, which made him depressed.

The video went viral on social media platforms and alerted the police, who reached the spot and recovered the body. Police initiated an investigation and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
