Hyderabad Rain: As the monsoon season rages on in India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Telangana, forecasting heavy rainfall across the region on Thursday. The weather bureau has issued a yellow alert, warning of heavy downpours that are expected to drench several districts of the state. According to the forecast, Hyderabad is also likely to experience light rainfall or thundershowers, accompanied by surface winds.
The yellow alert issued by the IMD covers a several areas in Telangana, including the districts of Adilabad, Nirmal, Kumaram Bheem, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalle, J. Bhupalpally, Siddipet, Mulugu, B. Kothagudem, Y. Bhuvangiri, M. Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and the state capital Hyderabad.

Furthermore, the weather department has issued an orange alert for the districts of Kumrambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial and Peddapalli, where heavy rains are expected from Thursday to Friday morning. These areas are also likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds gusting up to 40 km/h.
The state has already received an excess rainfall of 30 percent during the ongoing southwest monsoon season, with Telangana recording an average rainfall of 407.3 mm compared to the normal of 313.2 mm. Hyderabad itself has received normal rainfall, with 282 mm recorded against the normal of 246.1 mm.

The highest excess rainfall in the state has been observed in the Charminar mandal of Hyderabad, which has received 333.9 mm against the normal of 240.5 mm, a deviation of 39 percent.
The IMD has also issued a separate yellow alert for parts of Telangana on Thursday. According to the weather agency, heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial districts. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected in several other districts, including Adilabad, Jayashankar Mulugu, Warangal, Hanamkonda and Jangaon.
