The Cherlapalli Railway terminal in Hyderabad is now ready for operation on Monday with its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The terminal was constructed to reduce the traffic congestion in the city and to provide an infrastructure boost to the capital city of Telangana, given several goods trains will operate from here.

The government stated that the Cherlapalli terminal will play a key role in the development of the city, adding that it's ready to operate as the construction work is finished. Apart from traffic jams, the terminal will also reduce the rail traffic from other major terminals of the city: Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda railway stations.

A major chunk of crowd pressure from Secunderabad station is expected to shift here, resulting in smooth functioning.

Some of the key trains starting from this terminal are the Gorakhpur–Secunderabad Express, MGR Chennai Central–Hyderabad Express, and Shalimar–Hyderabad East Coast Express. Apart from this, trains like the Secunderabad–Sirpur Kagaznagar Express and Guntur–Secunderabad Golconda Express will also stop here.

Several of the IT companies were demanding the development work in the region as it is situated near the Outer Ring Road. The functioning of the terminal will even reduce the traffic congestion issue for hundreds of IT employees residing in this area.

The Cherlapalli terminal building has been constructed on the basis of modern architecture and design in a way that accommodates larger gatherings. The terminal building comprises six booking counters, restaurants, food courts, reservation counters, and separate waiting rooms for ladies and men.
